We strive to be innovative in igniting the minds of children in the community. We will inspire them to become proficient learners that will spark positive change and move the needle in test scores. On average, children in low poverty schools have lower scores than those in other communities and we are looking to change that narrative by making sure that all children have the same opportunities and resources to be successful. We focus on families that have first through third grade scholars, and we also incorporate tips and resources for caregivers to enhance family engagement.
Our programs are designed for scholars to have fun while learning, and we do this by incorporating activities to test their knowledge, doing cool science experiments, playing games during breaks, and creating opportunities to meet new friends while eating snacks. We make scholars comfortable by aligning with them and building upon their knowledge and what they already know.
Dream Initiative have four main subjects for our area of focus:
Reading: Reading helps children build a larger and more extensive vocabulary, helps with imagination and creativity skills, their concentration level improves, and they gain a deeper understanding of the world. If children are good at reading, statistics also show that they will be proficient in other subject areas.
Math: Early math skills foretell higher aptitude in high school math and higher rates of college enrollment. Math is a major part of life and the more children understand at an early age, the more successful they will be.
Science: Science education activities provide children with opportunities to develop and practice many different skills and attributes. These include communication skills, collaborative skills, team working and perseverance, as well as analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Financial Literacy: Students who learn to manage their finances early and often become adults who are better equipped to live independently. By teaching kids to make good financial decisions, they learn to pay down debt or avoid it altogether.
